Volunteer Story: Meet Jess!

We would like to thank Jess, our dedicated health program volunteer who came all the way from Canada to work with us for almost a year. She never failed to do everything she could to improve the lives of the women of UPAVIM. Jess ran an exercise program for the women of UPAVIM as well as nutrition classes for them, she also tried to do the same for us; the international volunteers…those efforts were not as successful!

Jess was happy to spend her time at UPAVIM filling any role necessary, leading English classes for children in the community, as well as implementing health classes for the children of UPAVIM School. During her time here Jess also cared for malnourished children in La Esperanza and acted as a liaison between marginalized families and health services in and around the area. Jess left a lasting impression on UPAVIMas and volunteers alike, and we really hope she will be able to come back and visit us all soon!
