Our wish has been granted!

by Laura Armstrong

A long-awaited wish of all of us here at UPAVIM has been to find a psychologist who can come and work with the women and children. We have been very happy to have Ramiro, a psychologist from Argentina volunteering with us for the past two months. He has been working with students in the school, boys who have needed particular support, as well as boys in the community to empower them to make good choices. We say a sad farewell to him this week, but thank him for all the wonderful work he has done here and wish him all the best for the future.

We are very excited to announce that we finally have someone who will be working here every week! In his leave, Ramiro has arranged for a Guatemalan psychologist who will be working here every week to empower the women and students of UPAVIM. Not only will she be working with the UPAVIMas in both group sessions and individually, she is also going to be working with students in the school and the teachers and volunteers of Reforz and the school.

This is a much-needed boost for our UPAVIMas, especially during such difficult times here in La Esperanza. She will be helping us to work better with the children as well as helping the UPAVIMas to take care of themselves. We look forward to seeing good changes in and around UPAVIM thanks to this new program.
