An Update from the Clinic

Exciting things are happening in the clinic!

The clinic at UPAVIM has been very busy lately. On top of having the normal doctor and nurse, we now have a volunteer pediatric nurse from the United States. For 5 months now Liz has been assisting in the clinic and also starting programs for the children in the community. In the UPAVIM school she has started an exercise and nutrional education program for all of the grades. Classes are held once a week for each grade where they learn about nutrition, health, and then do exercises for 30 minutes.

Many children in La Esperanza do not get their nutritional needs met so here in the clinic we are trying to tackle this problem with the program in the school and we are also in the process of raising donations for children’s vitamins.

We are hopeful for more funding in the future and we are excited to continue our work to improve the health in La Esperanza!
